Stronger Posture, Stronger Core

When we talk about core strength, most of us think about crunches, sit-ups, or bicycles. But here’s the truth: if you’re not training the back of your body, you’re leaving your core unfinished—and your strength unbalanced. That’s where back extension exercises come in.

In my Amazing Abs Core Workout, I show a version called the Superman (or Superwoman!), where you lift your arms and legs off the floor at the same time. It’s simple but powerful—firing up your lower back, glutes, and hamstrings while balancing out all that front-focused ab work. But the Superman is just one option. There are numerous back extension variations to try.

Regardless of which version you choose, back extensions are crucial for developing a strong, functional core. They improve posture, reduce back pain, and help you move with power in everything from workouts to daily life. And most importantly, they shift the focus away from just trying to “shrink” your body—reminding you that being strong is about feeling capable and supported from every angle.

So the next time you hit the mat, don’t just crunch forward—make sure you extend back, too. Your body (and your future self) will thank you.
